Jumping on for another sneaky peak for wonderful clients.

I had such a wonderful time with this family last week.
It was a perfect weather day, perfect smiles, perfect outfits, perfect location. Everything was just perfect!
The wild flowers were in bloom on the desert mountain and it coordinated perfectly with their beautiful, bright colors.
I am having such a great time working through these photos. It was very difficult choosing just a few to share today.

Heather is a friend from High School, and it was such a huge JOY to spend some time with her and her amazing family. Seriously, they are such a wonderful bunch of people and I was honored to capture a few of their moments together.

My sisters and I set up a little session for the children to give as gifts to my parents for the holidays.

Each of our children have intense exploring spirits. And so...there is no expectation from photo sessions. I just observe and snap at what I can.

Really? Has it really been nearly two months since I have posted anything on here? And, is the last session that I posted really dated from the 15th of NOVEMBER!!! And, are there really nearly 15 sessions that I have yet to post pictures from? Really??? REALLY???

So...
in effort to get "caught up" with things. I am going to go on a little posting spree. I won't be writing anything about any of the sessions...just know that they were all INCREDIBLY lovely and that I am ever so grateful for the fact that I have such beautiful and fun clients who believe in me and are easy to be with. What more could a gal ask for?

There will be a series of very small posts...including maybe 2-5 images from each session. I just want to get them out here, as I tend to think of this space as an on-line portfolio kind of thing where I can send potential clients who are interested in seeing my current work.

it is one of the most beautiful forms, i think.

and i truly enjoy being around this fun family.
so, when melissa asked me to do some maternity/family shots a couple of weeks ago, i was totally on board.

this will be their third babe and it is really fun to see the anticipation and excitement among each of them for the newest member.

there are several images from this session that i am just totally in love with. it was hard for me to choose which ones to share on here.

these girls are just amazing. i photographed them last year as well.
the images that we captured this time around really pull me in.
i feel like the setting was perfect for them, for their beautiful bright hair and for capturing little pieces of their unique personalities.

i am also really pleased with how these images look when transformed to black and white.

photography has been busy, which is so wonderful...but i am finding it hard to keep on top of this part of things.

I am loving this session!

It was so fun to go to a new location with this family. When Sara called to set up an appointment, she told me a little bit about her parents' house and their backyard. I thought it sounded wonderful for their photos...and it turned out so great! I always love trying out new places with clients and I am really enjoying the outcome of these images.

Another session that I wanted to share was one with Melissa and her family. It was fun because the dynamics of the family were Melissa, her son, her boyfriend and her grand daughter, Avery. So, we played around with various shots...trying to grab all the elements of relationships involved. I love the shots where we captured the San Tan's in the back ground. Such beautiful backdrop, right?

I was just talking with a friend of mine today about how the best photos that I get from sessions are sessions where the family (or person) shows up and is ready to have fun! People are always commenting on or are drawn to the photos I have taken where the subjects are interacting naturally and where they are genuinely enjoying their time together and with me!
This family is a perfect example of that. This is only the second time I have photographed them...but each time I do it, I am totally reminded of how much the energy of the session comes forward through the images that we capture.

Shelly, Chas and the kids show up with an attitude of fun...and so it is easy to grab great images of them together because they are really enjoying themselves together! I can catch those little moments of togetherness and joy without anything being forced or contrived.

I think people are drawn to those types of images because they see something real inside of them.

I loved how this session turned out and am feeling ever so thankful for ALL of my clients and the unique sessions that we have together.
Thank you to each of you for trusting me to capture some of the beauty in your life.

I have been so thrilled that so many of my past clients have rescheduled with me this year for their family photos. It is such a huge encouragement to me and something that just fills me up with serious gratitude. Plus, I have some of the most amazing clients...so it is always a treat to see them again!

Ashley, Josh and their beautiful boys are past clients from last year. I was so excited to know that they wanted me to take their family pictures again this year because of how much I enjoy this sweet family. Photographing them is so very easy. They all love each other so evidently.

The day we got together was so seriously hot, it was a bit ridiculous.
But, we braved the heat together and walked around a beautiful little area where we grabbed some fun shots of their family just being together.
Those kind of shots are my absolute favorite to take.

I am so, so, so, SO far behind in posting. I apologize to anyone who has been waiting to see their sessions up on this blog. I will get to it, I promise...but it may be after you have your disc in your hand!

I did want to share a few photos from a sweet session I did with a dear friend of mine from college. I have been taking pictures of Kristi, Nick and Logan since I started on this venture. She was one of the first to brave a session with me! ;)
And, each time a do a new one with this family, I am always reminded of how much I love this gig. I always love what we walk away with.

oh beautiful georgia!

Georgia is amazing. Seriously.
This was such a wonderful treat to be able to photograph her and be photographed by her.
Georgia and I just met a few short months ago...but I already feel such a friendship with her. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to set up a photo date where we traded taking pictures of one another. It was such a great exercise in self-acceptance and love. I had such an amazing time with her that morning, changing wardrobes, laughing, talking and sharing inspiration.

We've decided to do this as often as we can, maybe once a month or so. I can't wait for our next date!!!

Here are a few of my most favorite of Georgia. I still have quite a few to work through, but this is where I am at so far.

I am just feeling so intensely grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life!
Seriously, I am a blessed gal.

Part of my love and appreciation for photography is getting to try my best to capture the energy and love between different families.

Sara is a treasured person in my life.
I have known her since college...and without knowing it, we had babies about the same time!

Since then, we have developed a different connection than we had before...through motherhood and also our individual journeys into photography.

When she asked me to photograph her family several weeks ago, I was thrilled and honored!

I love being around this family, and I think that the images are genuine representations of who they are together.

Meet little miss Cambry! She is literally one of the darn cutest little girls I have ever seen.
She is the lovely daughter of one of my dearest friends, Christin, who was my roommate for all four years of college.
I love being able to see Christin as a mama (a rather amazing one I might add) and to be able to meet her children and to see their own little unique and beautiful personalities is such a special thing for me. Christin just gave birth to her second daughter...and the cuteness just continues!

Christin and I did a little trade last month where she did my hair and I got to take some pictures of sweet Cambry. I had such a great time, I wish I could take her pictures every week!! ;)

Here are some of my favorite of my time with her...

Not only is Christin a fantastic mama but she has become a domestic goddess as well. Hand painting murals on her daughters' walls, sewing big and little birds to put in Cambry's bedroom and making bows and barrettes is to name just a few of her talents. I'll have to post a picture of the bow she made for Journey to wear in my sister's wedding last month. It was so fun!!

This was such a special session for me because I was photographing the love between a very treasured friend of mine and her partner for life!

Karyn has been a part of my life for a very long time now. She was my very first boss when I started my job at Starbucks in high school!

I know that for her, at times it has felt like a long and windy road to find the person she has decided to marry. So I felt very honored to try and capture that love with my camera.

John is a very good man...and I am so glad that they have found each other.

I had another really fabulous opportunity last month when my dear friend Stacy asked me to photograph her mother's 25th wedding anniversary party. The really special part about this event was that Stacy's mom and her husband were renewing their vows after 25 years of marriage.

It was such a treat to document such an accomplishment!
The party was held at a friend's house and it was so cozy.

There were lots of different little accents to the evening that helped set a beautiful, intimate and celebratory setting.

The ceremony was to be held outside at dusk...and things got pushed back just a bit because of a storm that was rolling through at just that time. Luckily, the storm kept rolling through and although the sky was still a bit dark and cloudy...the rain had stopped and the ceremony could take place in the back yard. It was really lovely.

After the ceremony, everyone came inside for an amazing Italian dinner, a toast, and the cake cutting!

They even topped their cake with the same toppers that they used at their wedding 25 years ago. How cool is that? I loved it.

It was a truly beautiful evening with love evident and strong.

Last month I also had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this lovely family again. Only this time, Rachel was nearly ready to have her second child and wanted to have some shots of her amazingly beautiful belly.

There is something really inspiring about photographing a woman with a pregnant belly.

I totally enjoy this family and was so happy to get the chance to work with them again.

Upon delivery of their images, I also got to meet the newest member of their sweet family!!

Hello there!

I am delving in to catch up mode in this little space because it has been quite some time since I have posted anything. Within that time, the pace with photography has been quite lovely and constant so I have much to share!

To start things off I am going to share some of the images from my very first wedding session! It was one month ago and the experience was absolutely perfect. The wedding was intimate and wonderful, the family incredibly kind...and to top it all off, it was up in Sedona. Needless to say, magic and beauty abounded.

There are so many images from this event that I wish to share. I ended up being really pleased with the outcome. And while I can't put the full spectrum of images up on this blog, I can share my most favorite. And so that is what I will attempt to do!
There was a lot to capture and it was fun to spend enough time there to record the various stages leading up to the ceremony. The ceremony was held outside near a gorgeous willow tree and after wards the small bridal party took off to find some red rocks for their photos before heading back to the dinner reception.

These aren't going to be in a sequenced order because my computer is acting finicky right now and I don't have the time or energy to deal with that kind of attitude! ;) hee hee.

It was a lot of work. But a lot more fun and I am so happy to have had this experience.
I will probably be sharing more throughout the next week or so, along with several more sessions that I have been needing to post!

I never get tired of this work.

Seriously, I probably don't say it enough. But, I love this photography gig.
Love it.

I get a chance to stretch my creativity all the while interacting with the sweetest of souls.

Little Grace was pure sweetness and I was so happy to capture a bit of her beauty last weekend.

She has such a style about her and energy that makes you light up.

It was really fun playing around this downtown area with her.
I love the contrast of the colors she was wearing against the chipping brick.

I am one proud auntie and it is such an honor to get the chance to capture so many different milestones in his precious life.

My sister and I set up a little casual photo session to capture his 6-month stage and I am so in love with what we were able to get.

I think that what I love most about doing photography sessions like this is that I can walk away with some images that really tell the stories of where children are at in life.

6 months old...

wanting to explore the WORLD with your mouth

textures (like sand) feeling oh so different between your fingers

learning to navigate balance with the trust of some loving hands

And of course, as usual, Journey finds herself in the frame right beside Milo.
She has some serious love for this little guy.

He is such a bundle of pure goodness and I love him so.

last week i was lucky enough to meet and photograph this beautiful new being.

his name is Jayce and his mommy and I went to high school together.
i LOVED being able to see her again and spend a morning with her and her loves.
it is wonderful enough to spend some time with someone just born into the world...but it was extra special because he is Heather's and i have special memories with her.
i was so happy she asked me to photograph her family at such a tender time.

and he is all kinds of amazing.
he was so chill...and completely willing and forgiving of us interrupting that all day newborn sleep session.

and his big sister.
oh his big sister Maylee.

what a LOVE.

i was smitten the moment i saw that beautiful rich red hair.

it was so neat to observe a little bit of this time as a new family of four where everyone is sinking into a rhythm with each other.
i felt very honored to be there.

i had the privilege a couple of weeks ago to photograph this beautiful couple.
tina is the sister of audra, who i took maternity photos of last year.
they are both such fun girls...and total beauties so it is always really fun to have sessions with them.
tina and brian just got engaged and asked me to do a session with them while brian was in town.
i met them at a fun little resort just as a monsoon storm was blowing in!
so lighting was a bit darker then i had imagined both inside and out of the resort...but we managed some fun captures!

tina's son tylar was in on the shoot and he was seriously one of the coolest kids ever.
so fun.

so, here are a few of the images that i wanted to share of our time together~

i really like this one with tina and brian in the foreground and tylar in the back...and those clouds overhead!

we did several wardrobe changes and a couple of them landed us inside for good because it had started raining by then.
so...it was a different dynamic for me to work with, using my flash.
but i really LOVE some of the things we got while inside.
i tried to use what light i could and then play with it.

kinda fun!
and i don't know why, but i am really lovin' them in black and white.

About a week ago, I had the sweet honor to do some engagement photos for a dear friend of mine and her love.
I have known Alex for over 5 years now. She has been a friend through the content of those 5 years and has always had such a gentle spot in my life. She is a true friend if there ever were one.
And never, within the span of those five years, have I ever seen Alex so confident in her own skin...so happy with her life and with herself, than I have since knowing about the love between her and Sammy and their upcoming marriage.

It is interesting how the universe works. I had just been inspired by a photographer in California and had just put out my intention to photograph a same-sex wedding when Alex and Sam contacted me for pricing and info on my photography. I won't be photographing the wedding, but I was so pleased to have this opportunity to photograph a dearly loved friend at such an important time in her life through engagement photos. Not only because she has meant so much to me in these five years, but also because I really believe in marriage equality for all and care deeply about the issue. And, I view this as one simple way to use what I have to promote awareness of a very real and simple truth. Love is love. And we all deserve it.

Alex and Sammy are planning on getting married in London (Sam is from England). In doing so, they will receive the same legal rights and benefits as a heterosexual couple would and without as much complication involving the issues of immigration and same sex marriage once living there.
I really hope that eventually, our own country will be leading the way in absolute tolerance and acceptance of loving same sex relationships, where the rights and privileges of marriage are granted to all.

It was a true joy to get to spend the morning with Alex and Sammy...and to witness their happiness and joy over finding one another in this lifetime.
Their love is evident and our session was such a breeze in that their silliness, laughter, and shared moments of love and support gave me plenty to snap at.

I am really happy with the images and feel like we captured a bit of what is making them so happy these days in the face of challenge and hate.

to begin...

i have been on a really lovely journey with my photography lately.
it seems that, without a conscious effort in doing so, i have had a pretty steady break in doing portrait/lifestyle sessions.

and in relation to that, i have been doing a lot more photography in an exploratory sense.
i have been taking my camera with me through different experiences we are having and i have really been experimenting with the images once i am home with them.

a dear friend of mine gifted me with some software that she loves to use in her editing several months ago.

that software sat in my desk for several months~
i was so intimidated to explore it and use it.
photo shop really intimidates me.

but a couple of weeks ago, i downloaded it and i started exploring it and i have ended up using some of the tools in my latest "just because i wanted to take a picture" pictures.

it has been really fun!

but...
i have hesitated with using any of these tools with my "people" images because i don't feel the "just right" vibe when i do so.
i am exploring...
and that means trying things on that don't always fit.

i haven't found my exact groove when it comes to this photography thing.
i am enjoying the experimentation...
but i also look forward to sinking into a style that is completely my own.
and i know that i will find it and it will feel like coming home.
but i am not sure when or how or what that will be...
or what it will look like.

in the meantime,
i am happy to venture forward...
capturing the images that speak to me and then playing with them in the end to create the story that i saw in the first place.

so that might help explain the variations in my photos over the past month or so.
isn't it kind of exciting?
keeping me on my toes, that is for sure.

anyway.
all that to say.
i am still trying to figure out what feels comfortable, what feels real, what feels authentic in my approach to lifestyle/portrait photography.
i want something deep, and rich and warm...
and telling.

i feel pretty happy with these images i am sharing with you tonight.
maybe because they are of my sweet, beautiful nephew milo.
and really, he is deep, and rich and warm...
and he tells a million different stories.

whatever it is.
i am really enjoying these shots of him and his comforting soul.

this was my first time shooting with milo.
it was bliss, of course.

i was craving peaches today.
and thought that maybe instead of just wishing for them, i outta get my hinder up and go get some!

so, me and the chilis went over to mother nature's farm and filled up a couple of small baskets of perfect, plentiful peaches.

there were also some gorgeous sun hungry sunflowers, whom always work their color magic on me and make me grin.

the farmer of this little land told me that the city is making him landscape this area where the wild sunflowers grow.
they are making him put in rock and palm trees and mesquite trees to coordinate with the rest of the neighborhood.

what?!?!?

i took these pics so that i could send them to the city to say:
"dearest city people,
don't these sunflowers make you so happy?
don't they remind you that nature is so beautiful and bountiful?
don't you just want to lay in a sunflower patch and stare up at the ocean of sky and sun?
if you take these away...
the world will lose a thousand potential smiles.
please save the sunflowers.
save the smiles."

i love this little farm.
i love peaches.
i love wild sunflowers that grow near the street.

i love my children on this farm, picking peaches straight from the tree and walking through the wild sunflowers that grow near the street.
that is some serious bliss.

Yesterday, the children and I went out to lunch with Great Grandpa G.
We met up with him at a place called "The Farm".
And it was pure bliss.

It is an ideal place for me and my kids.
They get to run around in free open space.
And I get to watch in freedom.
And we all get to enjoy the visual delights of a farm atmosphere.

I took quite a few pictures while I was there.
Most of my Grandpa and my kids.
But some were just of my surroundings and what I saw.

When I got home with them, I decided to play around with them and try a few new things with my images.
This is the result.
And some of them, I really, really love.

And I had to throw in this one of Jo-Jo.

She is full of confidence and spirit.
(and some dessert too)!

I hope she always stays that way...

It was perfect because we had already planned a hike that morning to one of the state parks where we would learn about some of the native plants and animals.
After our hike, the kids and I also visited a little walking garden near our old house...and we got to learn some more about the wildlife around us.
It was actually really therapeutic for me. So much so, that I didn't even notice the 100 degree weather to a point of letting it bother me!
I get captivated when I look at these pictures. Because, there is so much beauty in the desert and the plants are this mysterious combination of severity and subtlety.
I was reminded of the mystical force in the desert...and it was significant for me to realize that when I get bogged down from living in the heat...it is usually the weight of the consumerist layout of the city...and the concrete jungle itself that I have difficulties with.
It isn't the wonder of the desert.

That wonder is so completely evident for me in these photos.

I've been so excited about posting this session from yesterday.

This place.

Total magic.

I got to spend some time with a couple of my nephews yesterday.

We sat down for a little sandwich lunch and Wyatt was being such a big boy with his food, that I wanted to snap a few pictures of his cuteness.

He reminded me of his daddy when it came to how he ate his lunch.

What an incredibly lovely session!

Truly.

I really enjoyed this family so much.

Rebecca brought a few wardrobe changes for Viola along with a few of her favorite things and I loved the variety in that! It was super fun.

And little Viola, I just swoon over. Look at her!

Her mommy and daddy are pretty taken with her as well, as they should be! They were a great group to snap at.

Rebecca brought an outfit that was her own as a baby...and Viola looked so sweet in it. I love sentimental things like that and this outfit...oh my goodness. I want one for my own little girl!

This location always proves to be a great place to schedule sessions at. I really appreciate it for all that it offers.

And something so fun that Rebecca and Will brought along was a cardinals jersey from this year's Superbowl. Viola was born on Superbowl Sunday one year ago so they bought this jersey this year and they are planning on taking pictures of her with it on each year around her birthday to see how much she has grown! Isn't that a fun idea?

Needless to say, she was swimming in it this year!

It was snack time and she was totally into her cheerios.

I sincerely LOVE it when clients schedule sessions with me in downtown areas. There is so much fun to be had, lots of color and great opportunity for creativity.

So, I was genuinely excited to meet up with this family and enjoy myself! Tika is a friend of a friend...and I just knew that she would be a whole lot of great. And, of course she was! Along with her hubs, mom and kids.

A wonderful session indeed.

Dan was not incredibly thrilled about taking photos...but he was a good sport none-the-less and I love how Tika knew just how to make him grin! ;)

Tika's mom was there to join the fun!

It was such a treat to get her in a few shots with her wonderful grandkids.

She is a very proud grandma and she is so very kind.

I really do luck out when it comes to having wonderful clients!

And~I am super appreciative of that.

The S family was certainly no exception!!

I love meeting up with people who are looking forward to a good time...it was fun to watch them interact as a family, and I was so happy to be there documenting some of the love they share.

Carson is totally at the age that my children were when I realized that the only good pictures I would be getting of them would be the ones where I was following them around and grabbing shots of them in action...just as they are. So, we did just that and I love some of the moments we caught with him!

They are such a sweet family...and super easy to photograph!

I'm really enjoying the ones we grabbed with the three of them in the frame together.

There are so many snapshots that I love from this session. Carson had a few moments of completely "working" the camera...

Ok.

This family...

oh.my.goodness.

Not only are they each so in love with one another, but you are totally going to end up falling in love with them too! By the time you reach the end of this post, you will probably be head over heels just like me!

So incredibly lovely.

Lisa gave birth to her second babe just two weeks ago and she completely radiates with mama love.

It was a real joy to meet her and her family and to see them all interact together.

It was equally as great to watch Erik connect with both of his children while I was there. I love meeting up with people who have such a genuine heart for their kids.

That genuine love was so completely evident within this family.

And, I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful newborn...besides my own, of course (ahem)!
Avery is absolute magic.
I could look at her all day long...

Erik's mom was there for a visit too...so even Ga-Ga got in a few pictures!

I fall in love all over again when I look at these pictures of Carson.

He is an amazingly sweet, beautiful little boy...and taking pictures of him was such a delight!

I loved being able to try and catch moments with all of them in these early days with Avery being so "new".

They were each so comfortable and peaceful...and I really think these next few images portray that.

I had a difficult time choosing which images to share...but I am really loving this last one for so many reasons.

There was another important block of time back in January (!) that I wanted to share on here...and that was a visit from my dear cousin Mary and her sweet, beautiful family.

We try and get together once a year and the winter months in AZ always tend to temp these Oregonians down south.

Lucky us!

This family, for so many incredible reasons, is one of my most favorite in the world. I love them very much.

So while they were here, we ventured out on a day date and I brought along my camera in effort to capture a few images of their family together.

I love some of the ones we walked away with.

Say cheese!

So way back in January (it's March already, really?!)...I had the great opportunity to take some pictures at the wedding reception of some family. My sister Brittni's sister-in-law (Shannon) got married and I was able to join the reception and snap away at all the fun being had. It was a great night. This family is all kinds of fun and they are always a great joy to be around. It was wonderful practice for me...as I got to try and capture an event that I had never done before. So here are a few snapshots of the evening!

so. it has been a while, yes?

things have been a bit slow in the realm of photography...but not quite as slow as what is reflected here. i have a few (somewhat) sessions to post and was also wanting to share some of the pictures i have been taking on my own time...reflecting my world and such.

i also have found some really wonderful inspiration and wanted to share those resources on here as well.

so, although i have been lacking in posting...i am not lacking in things to post!

but there was a slight void of sessions the past month or so...and things are getting rolling again with that (yahoo)!

starting with these two dear boys:Aaron and Collin, both a real joy to meet and spend my morning with.

It was so nice to get out again...in nature, with my camera and a very fun, loving and connected family.

It was a great welcome back after a pause.

Laura and I have been connecting off and on since before the holidays, I believe...and this past weekend is when the session unfolded. They are such a lovely family and the children are so very sweet and kind.

What more could I hope for?

I love some of the images that we grabbed together. There were some very sweet ones of Collin with his daddy...

Little Collin was a real trooper and was so easy going throughout the entire shoot. But, once near the end...he was over it all and ready for a nap!

I thought his expressing of that was totally worth capturing! ;)

And Aaron, what a treasure he is! These were his 5 year pictures and he offered me great advice and suggestions for what pictures to be taken! I loved that about him. He was wonderful to photograph!

Oh how I loved this session!

And this family...they were incredibly comfortable and oh.so.very kind.

I think that was a huge part of why I am so delighted with the images we got from their session.

I also got to borrow my friend's lens for my time with them...and well, that was pretty wonderful in and of itself.

Gotta get me that lens.

But really, this family. Wonderful.

Emma (their little beauty of a girl) even greeted me with a hug right when I met her. She knows how to steal a heart from the very get go.

My favorite part about doing these sessions is that I get to stop these little moments (fleeting seconds, really) that might otherwise go unnoticed or observed.

I can't wait any longer to post these pictures because if I do, Audra will have already had her little Mackenzie in her arms!

Remember Audra? After her photo session, she contacted me to see if I was interested in taking pictures at the baby shower being held in her honor. I said sure, why not! And it ended up being a lot of fun. How could it not be? She's a fun gal.

So I borrowed my friend's flash and away I went. I enjoyed my time here and I felt really honored that Audra asked me to be a part of such a special day in her life. Here are the few of images I took.

She set up a session with me for the end of December to take pictures of the adults in the family, as they are creating albums to give to their parents.

I had a session yesterday morning and boy was it cold!

Lisa and I had scheduled her family in a long time ago but had to re-schedule and only on sunday did I get to thinking..."hmmm...that is kind of early and it is kind of stormy and cold!".

yep.

it was pretty cold.

But they were troopers and we managed to grab some nice shots of the whole family.

Ben and Lisa are lovely, as is their little girl Emma.

I really like these ones of Emma with both mom and dad.

We got some great family shots and I am so happy about that because I know how much Lisa was hoping for some!

a whole new world

my sessions last week had to be cancelled because of the rain, so it felt kind of weird not to have anything to work through!

that might have been part of the reason i was so excited for the session i had yesterday.

that and the fact that it was in essence my very first maternity shoot!

i talked with audra last month and we had set up our session and i have totally been looking forward to our time together.

and let me just tell you.

i *seriously* love taking maternity pictures.

and i was so happy that this session was with audra because pretty much anyone could take pictures of her and they would be beautiful, i am just happy it was me!

she is unbelievably gorgeous and is so comfortable in front of a camera.

i have known about this location for a long time. the first time i scoped it out was like 4 years ago. it is a very beautiful place with lots of wonderful photo ops.

while we were there, we walked past like 5 photographers and some that were shooting wedding parties.

i was really happy with what it offered us and i thought it would be a great place for a belly shoot!

i am seriously falling in love with the images we got.
audra had some fun ideas and it was so easy because i could just guide her to a certain spot and then she would just be her beautiful self and the captures were great!

this one of her with the tree is one of my most favorite because of all the crazy color.
i love it so much.

and i'm crazy about this one too.

both she and her husband are super easy going and fun, so it was a very comfortable session.

i love some of the moments we caught with the two of them.

i had a lot of fun playing with this love statue.
isn't it great?

i love the colors in this one too!

this time of year is so amazing here because there are a few trees that are changing and still a LOT of green.

she's having a little girl!

so beautiful.

I just had such a great time with these two (or three!) and I couldn't be happier with what we walked away with. I really love them.

Take a look at this sweet fam! I loved spending a morning with them, they were seriously great. And what was even better is that Kristin picked a location that I have been wanting to shoot for so long.

So I was one happy girl!

Of course, what makes the sessions so wonderful is that I get to look at faces like this:

Isn't he a charmer? This here is one of the most pleasant little guys around. His name is Grayson and I enjoyed him so very much.

The area offered quite a bit for fun photos. I always get new energy when I am at a location I have never done before. I get inspired and I love looking back at the pictures.

I absolutely love this one of Grayson, he is just perfect!

They even got festive with the santa hats.

So fun!

I really enjoyed this location and I loved that this family was so up for anything. They were so very great!

What a beautiful family I got the chance to meet and take pictures of last week! It was extra wonderful because of the fact that little Max is only 2 months old...and being around someone so new is always really lovely.
He was totally alert and aware the entire time we were together. He was easy going and very forgiving of me snapping away at him. Everything about him is perfect!

As with his older brother Bodi, who is such a sweetheart he makes you want to hang around him all day long.
He was very willing to listen to my requests and I would have to say he is probably the easiest "almost two year old" I have ever taken pictures of!

Max has these wonderful lips...aren't they so sweet? I love looking at his tiny little fingers in this one.

I really like how you can somewhat see Josh and Bodi walking away in the distance.

I love my family! My sister Brittni set up some time with me to photograph her beautiful little unit last week. I asked them to be my guinea pigs and venture out to a new location with me. It ended up being a photographers dream, and I am really, very happy with what we walked away with!

They are an amazingly beautiful family though, so it is hard to screw anything up!
Wyatt is always smiling. Always. I rarely ever see him in a stinky mood. But on this day. He wanted to stink it up, and that is ok...we still managed to make him smile. Every once in a while! Ha.

Isn't he so freakin' adorable? Seriously.

Like I said, this place was full of different unique opportunities for photos. Needless to say, I had a blast.

Karyn has been a dearly loved friend for years and years. She was my first boss in high school, and has remained a close part of my life after all this time! So, when she told me that her entire family would be together for Thanksgiving and that she would like for me to take some family pictures for them, I was so very excited.

The family isn't all together very often, so I know that they were looking forward to getting some pictures taken together. And of course, the day that we scheduled something, and the ONLY day that would work out for the remainder of their trip...was the day with all the rain and dark, dark sky. Ya, that ONE day in AZ! Ha!

We decided to just make due and see what we could get. We changed locations and went forward with the session.

Not only was the day just amazing for taking pictures, with the bright AZ sun tucked surely behind the blanket of clouds that morning providing just enough light to make it absolutely perfect...but this family! This family is so incredibly pleasant.

they are pretty close in age and each have such different personalities.

it was fun to watch them and get to know a little bit about who they are.

I couldn't get over their hair! This was such a great spot for bringing out the brightness, with such a great contrast against the greens and yellows of the area.

I walked away with quite a few treasures to look through!

I am very pleased with what we captured that day. Their natural beauty is so evident and really comes through the images.

And we even got the chance to take a family picture while we were out there. I love how it turned out!

What a sweet family.

ok. This family was serious fun to work with. They each had wonderful personalities, so together... they were a great group to snap away at! It was a joy to be with their children, who were all very bright and life-filled...and I was very excited to be in a new location where I had never done a session before.

That filled me with inspiration.

Something about this family totally took me back to when I was a little girl. Their little unit kind of reminded me in some ways of the family I was born into and growing up with my sisters.

There were many special moments to be caught here...and I did my best to be aware of as many of them as I could be!

But it is hard to play favorites with this session, because there ended up being quite a few that I fell in love with.

Love this one of little "M" on the bench. That is M, right Danielle? ;) The twins looked so much alike. I usually pride myself on being able to tell twins apart, since I grew up with older twin sisters (not to mention I married a twin as well)...but these two were tough.

Both so beautiful and so pleasant. I'm still not sure that I have it right.

I had the sweet privilege of documenting a little bit of time with these cute kiddos. They were fun...and the session was really great experience for me.

There were five of them all together and that was a bit challenging at times because we all know that each person has different ideas and moods all at the same time, right! ;) Courtney (one of the mamas of this group) wanted to do it at her beautiful home, which was nice because they were all very comfortable there.

I snagged a few shots of each of them on their own...

I love this one by their wood pile.

When I saw this, I thought "oh perfect" since the kids were wearing browns and creams.

And we did our best to get a shot of them on this sweet chair that Courtney has in her house.

They were a great group!

And such beautiful kids, don't you think?

They were a lot of fun and it was a really good experience for me.

This family just radiates kindness! I got to meet and stalk them(hee hee) last weekend in such a beautiful place. And their children, oh their children are just gems.

They came prepared to feed the ducks out on the lake and had such a great time doing it. It really was a fun location for the kids and it offered plenty of beautiful bright green grass. I loved that. I also loved this dock.

So very sweet.

And equally as sweet is his little sister Caitlin, who...as you can tell, is just brimming with life.
The two of them together was fun for me to try and capture. They each had their own agenda of course, but they listened so well and had as much patience as they possibly could.

The biggest reason for this session was for Caitlin's 2 year pictures. She was so fun to follow around. She has lots of energy and stayed in good spirits the whole time we were together.
And I loved the dress she had on...it totally snazzes up the pictures!

I'm not sure how it works out that I get to work with such kind and lovely families...but it does, and this session was no exception! Kaisha, Kyle and Kayden were all so easy to be around and I seriously enjoyed every minute!

Kyle and Kaisha are such a sweet couple, it is no wonder that their little guy Kayden carries that sweetness as well.
Kayden's favorite part of our time together was hiding in these poky bushes. It is a wonder how he never got scratched up.
He didn't enjoy it near as much when I tried to guide him to a spot near me. His disappointment was evident in this picture below, and I love the little expression on his face...and the good nature of his parents! :)

This was a new location for me and I was pretty happy with the opportunities it gave us. I especially love the reflection of all these palm trees. So pretty...

LOVE this one. So much.

I think we got some very good shots of the three of them together as a family...

Don't you love their shadows in this one...me and shadows, I don't know what the deal is but I can't get enough of them these days.

And sweet, precious boy Kayden.

There is something so pure about this one of him.

And my absolute favorite from our time together is this one of Kayden with Kaisha. There were two different airplanes flying in the sky, and as soon as he found one, he saw the other one and had one hand pointing to each plane. He was enthralled. I love it.

What a wonderful family, seriously.
